Today we had a wonderful lesson on Fasting. We have the ability to receive unmeasurable quantities of blessing by demonstrating our willingness to sacrifice.
In the scriptures we learn that some of the reasons we fast are:
To be obedient to the Lord’s commandments,
to serve God,
to worship God and to show gratitude to Him,
to receive special blessings, such as healing,
to gain a testimony,
to gain the spirit of prophecy and revelation and the ability to teach,
as a missionary tool (for the conversion of people who are not yet members of the church,
to feed the hungry and clothe the naked,
to draw closer to God.
When we humble ourselves before the Lord in a sincere fast with a true purpose, the windows of heaven are open and blessing fall upon us.
