We discussed that the purpose of prayer is to develop a relationship with our Heavenly Father, give thanks, learn wisdom, align our needs and wants with our Heavenly Father's, and to continually stay close to Him.
If we can remember that we are "A Child of God" we will have a desire to converse with our Father in Heaven about our daily endeavors. He cares about us and loves us. (Read about Prayer in the Bible dictionary)
Elder Bednar gives us great understanding regarding morning prayer. He states: "meaningful morning prayer is an important element in the spiritual creation of each day- and precedes the temporal creation or the actual execution of the day." We need to ask for "help to do the things we cannot do in our own strength alone...Such a prayer is a key part of the spiritual preparation for our day.. During the course of the day, we keep a prayer in our heart for continued assistance and guidance..."
My hope is that we will all improve our daily prayers and in so doing we will develop a stronger relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Thank you to all who participated today in our lesson.
